Arne Næss Symposium 2014: Taking Responsibility for Tomorrow’s World

May 8, 2014 - 13:30-15:30

The theme of the 2014 Arne Næss Symposium—featuring His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama—is Taking Responsibility for Tomorrow’s World. There will be a conversation between the Dalai Lama, the student community and the Arne Naess Chair in Global Justice and the Environment, Dr. David Abram.

The event is free of charge, but still requires a ticket. We will hand out tickets on 6 May at Chateau Neuf, from 17 to 18.00 in the foyer (NB: Limited number, first come, first served). It will not be possible to reserve tickets in advance nor pick up several.

The Symposium – organized in collaboration with The Cultural Committee of the Norwegian Student Society –  features the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, who has for for more than seven decades been the public face of Tibet, first in Lhasa and then in exile since 1959.

To the outside world the figure of the Dalai Lama is synonymous with the struggle for peace and human rights. Both His Holiness’ work and publications are saturated with a deep reflection on basic human values such as compassion, forgiveness, tolerance, contentment and self-discipline.
