BIANNUAL INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON INDONESIAN POLITICS AND GOVERNMENT (BICOIPG) 2017 Call for papers
June 30, 2017
For several decades until recent years, populism has became prominent political phenomena and has attracted wide scholarly attention. In many countries, populism has surged in the forms of charismatic leaders, populist parties, and people movements. In short, not only populism has managed to organize itself within political parties, but surprisingly, it has achieved electoral success in several parts of the globe. In the context of democratic consolidation in Indonesia, it will be especially important to assess the penetration of populist attitudes in the entire Indonesia political landscape.
This year, Department of Political Science Faculty of Social and Political Science, Universitas Indonesia, will conduct a second biannual international conference aiming to address the emergence and influence of populism within Indonesian democracy. The conference is open to discuss theoretical aspects of populism, empirical studies on specific issues related to Indonesian populism, such as political ideology of populists, strategies of populist politicians, parties, or movements, as well as comparative analysis of populism in other countries in comparison with the situation in Indonesia.
Abstract submission deadline: 30 June 2017
Conference dates is 7- 8 November, 2017
