Democracy and Human Rights in East and South-East Asia: Developments and Challenges

This symposium addresses recent political developments and the human rights situation in various countries in East and South-East Asia.

Scholars from the region and Lund University will discuss recent positive developments as well as setbacks and increasing repression in East and South-East Asia. The event will also addresses the role of scholars and the situation for academic freedom in the region.

The video installation INSIDE/OUTSIDE will be screened in the foyer. The piece is built on a concept by Nguyen Thanh Thuy, an artistic PhD student at the Malmö Academy of Music, and addresses gender issues in contemporary music culture in Vietnam. The installation is presented with support from the Inter Arts Center, Malmö. Further information about the installation.
