Guest Lecture: Changes and Continuity in Chinese University Culture Since the 1990s

The Academy of Finland and Confucius Institute at the University of Helsinki are happy to announce that registration is now open to the guest lecture by Hal Swindal on the Chinese university culture over the last three decades. Professor Hal Swindall is a California native who earned his MA in English at Claremont Graduate University and his PhD in comparative literature at UC Riverside in 1994. Since then, he has worked as an English professor at East Asian universities, mainly teaching writing and literature, but also integrating writing skills into oral English classes. Presently, he teaches undergraduates and graduates at Jinan University in Guangzhou, China. Besides Global Listening Center Hal is a member of the Asia Pacific Writers and Translators Association and the American Literary Translators Association.
