In ascending to a more global role in the new multi-polar world, Chinese foreign policy has faced new challenges and become surrounded by many questions. However, since reform and opening-up, Chinese diplomacy has actually displayed consistency in many of its core concepts, aims and guiding principles. China maintains that the focus of its foreign policy remains the pursuit of peaceful development, mutual exchange and benefit with its partners, and the maintenance of stability in international affairs. But as the world and China itself undergo rapid changes, China needs to enhance its foreign policy in order to fully adapt to domestic and international challenges. This requires that Chinese diplomacy make be reformed so as to become more forward-looking, more active and more creative. Professor Cui Liru will discuss these issues and field questions from the audience.
