Japan as a Global Actor

April 6, 2017 - 15:30-17:00

Japan, the world’s third largest economy, might give the impression that it is not translating that size to commensurate influence in international affairs. However, its contribution to promoting peace and development in many parts of the world through various means ranging from humanitarian and development assistance to soft power in the form of cultural exports, has a considerable global impact. As the world seems to be trending towards increased instability and uncertainty, how can Japan, a current member of the UN Security Council, cooperate with Sweden, the EU, and the United States to contribute to bringing about a better world?

Ambassador Jun Yamazaki, Ambassador of Japan to Sweden
