Lunch talk: Nguyen Thanh Tam

Nguyen Thanh Tam is a legal adviser on international trade and business law at the Law Office Huynh Nam, Hanoi, Viet Nam. She is Associate Professor and former Dean of the Faculty of International Trade and Business Law at Hanoi Law University in Viet Nam. She recently joined Rule of Law Partners, Ltd. (in Denmark) to participate in international development projects operating in Asia.
Tam’s main research areas are international economic relations, international trade and business law, interdisciplinary research relating to investor-State relation, and foreign trade policy of Viet Nam.
During Tam’s stay as a guest researcher at NIAS, she is working on political, economic and legal issues for Nordic businesses operating in “globalizing” Viet Nam. The main purpose of the research is to support Nordic businesses, with their values, to better take advantage of and meet the challenges of the Vietnamese business environment. Viet Nam is an emerging market, which is smaller than other Asian markets, but no less attractive in the context of FDI and new patterns of global and ASEAN trade, as well as new trends of Nordic cooperation policy with “globalizing” Viet Nam.
Tam’s presentation is entitled Political, Economic and Legal Issues for Nordic Businesses Operating in “Globalizing” Viet Nam and will focus on:

- Part 2. Viet Nam’s political, economic and legal system for foreign businesses
- Part 3. Nordic values and doing business in Viet Nam.
