NATO Goes East – Possibilities for East Asian Security Cooperation

In today’s globalized world, cooperation and alliances are formed without geographical restraints. The security environment in East Asia is not the same as in Europe, but the need for stability and playing by internationally agreed rules is. How can NATO be of use for the East Asian countries and what are the best format for cooperation with the NATO when East Asian nations look for a vibrant and useful partnership? Ambassador Alexander Vershbow, Deputy Secretary-General of the NATO will address the question at this ISDP Forum. With a background also as the US Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Ambassador Vershbow is well suited to address these and other related questions.
