NCI secretariat moved to Umeå University

From 1 January 2014 the secretariat of the Nordic Centre in India (NCI) university consortium is located at Umeå University in Sweden. The new Chairperson of the NCI is Dr. Rupali Bhalerao (photo), analyst at Umeå University’s Planning Office – and a SASNET networking partner. Dr. Sirpa Tenhunen from University of Helsinki, Finland, continues to be the NCI director in charge of the daily work. She joined the position in September 2013 (more information).

Since 2004, NCI also keeps a liaison office in Delhi that offer assistance to researchers, students and visiting Nordic delegations and groups. Services include help in arranging meetings, organising lectures, seminars and conferences, following-up on research applications and establishing contacts with Indian universities and government offices. Scholars and representatives from our member universities can also stay at the Director’s residence in Delhi for both shorter and longer periods of stay. The residence at Nizamuddin East has become a popular meeting place for Nordic researchers. In India, Ms. Christabel Royan is the programme manager in charge of collaborating with Indian counterparts in organising a wide range of programmes for Nordic students.
