Panel Discussion | East Asia in the era of Donald Trump: Understanding the world’s most important region
September 6, 2017 - 19:00-20:30
The world is in flux, and despite its status as the world’s foremost military power, US foreign policy under Donald Trump appears increasingly erratic and its global influence is on the wane. Meanwhile, in East Asia, China’s quest for regional and global influence continues, Japan’s security reforms move the country further away from the spirit of its pacifist constitution, and events on the Korean peninsula dominate global headlines. As the world’s foremot military power, the US plays a key role in the region.
The Centre for East and South-East Asian Studies in collaboration with UPF Lund, invites you to an evening of discussion and debate with the aim of going beyond the headlines, to deepen our collective understanding of East Asia and problematise some of our common misconceptions.
