Background
This seminar on “Power, Interest and Norms – Competing Visions of EU-Asia Partnership” will look at the developments of EU’s relations with Asia and discuss if the EU is equipped to come up with a grand strategy or cohesive policy of engaging Asia. How does the interplay of interests, norms and power affect EU’s role and aspirations and its position and positioning in Asia? And finally what role can forums like the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), and regional organizations like the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) play in cementing EU’s interests in Asia?
