Quintet Out of Tune? The Nordic States’ relations with China

June 3, 2016 - 13:00-15:30

The People’s Republic of China is becoming increasingly important for the Nordic countries. Not only is China already a significant partner in terms of bilateral trade, economic investments and collaboration on various sectors of research and innovation, Beijing has also demonstrated a growing capacity, and will, to shape the global institutional environment which small states depend upon. The Nordic countries have in general sought to deepen their political ties with Beijing even if strong differences exist especially on human rights and governance issues have provoked occasional clashes with some of the Nordic countries.
