    Ellen Bangsbo is an independent researcher and holds a BA in Tibetan Studies and a MA in Anthropology from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. Between 1978 and 1990 she lived and studied Tibetan Buddhism amongst the exile Tibetan community in India and Nepal and between 1990 and 1992 she lived and worked at the Tibetan center Karma Triyana Dharmachakra (KTD) in Woodstock, NY, USA. She has published the book ‘Teaching and Learning in Tibet’, as well as articles mainly focused on education for Tibetans. She did consultancy work for Danish NGOs and for Danida, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs with a report on Tibetans in India. Between 2004-2007 she did several trips to Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) and the Tibetan ethnic areas in Sichuan and Qinghai, in 2005 supported by a travel stipend from Danida. She has periodically been associated as Affiliate Researcher with NIAS Nordic Institute of Asian Studies, Copenhagen.
