Lund University
Magnus Jirström is Associate Professor of Human Geography at Lund University. He specialises in Development Geography/Development studies, especially rural and agricultural development. Current research projects include: a) African Food Crisis – the relevance of Asian models; b) Structural Transformation of Southeast Asia’s agricultural Systems: Agricultural Diversification in Vietnam, and c) Farmers’ cooperatives, local organizations and NGOs in rural and agricultural development. Much of his research is conducted in interdisciplinary teams and in close cooperation with international research groups. Jirström teaches at all levels within the fields of Development geography/Development Studies and he is also a supervisor of Ph.D. students. His main field experience is from Southeast Asia.
