IRDB collects and provides meta data to a wide range of material in Japanese academic repositories, including theses, journal articles, books, conference papers, research reports, soft ware, etc.
The metadata harvested by IRDB is provided to the following systems, in order that the content registered in IR will be used in each system:
- Academic information platforms such as CiNii (https://ci.nii.ac.jp/) and OpenAIRE: Used when searching for content registered in IR.
- National Diet Library: It is used for automatic submission of doctoral dissertations.
- Japan Link Center (JaLC): It is used by the JaLC associate members organized by the National Institute of Informatics to assign DOI (Digital Object Identifier).
IRDB harvested metadata can be provided to organizations.

Terms of use
The licensed databases may only be used for personal and scientific purposes, as well as for research and educational purposes. It is strictly forbidden to change, rewrite, systematically copy, redistribute, sell, publish or in any way use the material for commercial purposes.
Systematic and/or automated duplication of content, such as but not limited to, text-mining and data-mining is not allowed without prior consent from NIAS. Please contact the NIAS Library for further information.
