Through nine stories composed of real characters and real plots, this book is divided into three perspectives from the front line, the rear, and the periphery. It tells the life experiences of the generations of Taiwan in the shadow of World War II, and features their physical and mental state and emotional logic. Each story can be read independently, but it also echoes each other: each will take us back to the historical moment when the emperor declared unconditional surrender, and always portray the pain, separation, opportunity and dreams brought about by war from the perspective of a small individual.
