New books on Indian Foreign Policy to be presented at IFS seminar in Oslo

The Norwegian Institute for Defence Studies (IFS) invites to a half-day seminar on ”Indian Foreign Policy and Strategic Thinking” in Oslo. At the seminar, IFS will introduce two new books on India, and discuss India’s relations with the wider world. The books are ”A Game of Chess and a Battle of Wits. The Making of India’s Forward Policy 1961–62”, written by Johan Løøv from the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and former research fellow at IFS; and ”India’s Grand Strategy. History, Theory, Cases”, co-edited by V. Krishnappa, Research Fellow at Institute for Defence Studies and Analysis, New Delhi. Both Løøv and Krishnappa will be present.

The seminar however also includes two high-class academic presentations. ​Professor John Garver, basically a China scholar from the School of International Affairs, Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, USA, will talk about ‘China–India Relations: Past, Present and Future’; and Professor Harsh V. Pant from the Department of Defence Studies at King’s College London, UK, will talk about ​‘Perspectives on Indian Foreign Policy: Aligned or Non-Aligned?’. Prof. Pant’s research largely focuses on India’s China policy and India’s policy trajectory in Afghanistan. He is also working on issues related to Indian defence policy. 
Dr Sunniva Engh, senior fellow at IFS will be the moderator. ​
