PhD students in Social Anthropology with a focus on Asia
The Department of Social Anthropology at Stockholm University welcomes applications for two PhD positions focusing on Asia, meaning South, Southeast, and East Asia. We welcome applicants with a substantive interest in one or more countries in Asia. This may include projects located outside the region, for instance, focusing on issues such as Asian migration to the Middle East or Asian economic investment in Africa.

Incoming doctoral students will be part of a national research school in Asian studies, a collaboration between the Stockholm Center for Global Asia at Stockholm University, the Center for East and South-East Asian Studies at Lund University, and the Center for Asian Studies at the Stockholm School of Economics. Doctoral students will be able to take advantage of a large research network, cross-listed courses, workshops, and joint colloquia. The doctoral students will also be expected to participate in activities at the Stockholm Center for Global Asia.

The application deadline is March 24, 2023. There may be interviews with short-listed candidates. Final decisions will be made by early June and the starting date is August 28, 2023.
