Seminar “New Developments on the Korean Peninsula”

Within one year both South and North Korea have got new state leaders, and the world is eagerly anticipating any indication of which way the political and social climate on the Peninsula in heading.  In the global arena, South Korean IT-companies are ranked as world leaders and K-pop has fans all over with Gangnam style.  Small changes are taking place in North Korea which might predict gradual economic reforms and emerging new opportunities for international cooperation. The goal of this seminar is to discuss these new developments from different perspectives and evaluate their impact on domestic issues as well as on the international relations of South and North Korea.

The seminar marks the Korea theme year of the Centre for East Asian Studies, University of Turku.
