Webinar: “Engineering Public Hostility Against Popular Movements: Tatmadaw’s Suppressive Repertoire in Urban Myanmar”

Sep

00:00 to 23:59

The Council on Southeast Asia Studies at Yale University is hosting a webinar where Van Tran (PhD) will shed light on the suppressive tactics of Myanmar’s military force experienced by the organizers of mass protest movements in urban Myanmar. Most of the existing studies have focused on analyzing the more straightforward tools of repression by the Burmese junta and its violent contractors, however much less is understood about its more deceptive strategies to mobilize public hostility against protesters – despite the common occurrence of this phenomenon.

Note that the seminar takes place at 6am (CET).
