Malaysia’s GE15: Reflections on a Snap Election

A conversation with Duncan McCargo. Hosted by Mai Van Tran.

Malaysia held its fifteenth general election on 19 November 2022 after it was called at short notice before the end of the last government’s term. What was this election all about? In this episode, Duncan McCargo, director of the Nordic Institute of Asian Studies (NIAS) and a professor of political science at the University of Copenhagen, joins Mai Van Tran, a postdoctoral researcher at NIAS, to discuss his experience observing Malaysia’s GE15 on the ground.
